Empowering Young Mothers Affected by COVID-19 Through Sewing Skills
During the COVID period, many young girls have been victims of sexual abuses and got unwanted pregnancies leading them to losing hope of the future.
PHARP has been able to help some of them teaching them sewing which is a skill that helps many people to make money and help themselves.
Umutoni Angelique is one of the victims helped by PHARP to lean sewing. She received her certificate on October 29th 2021 at Jenda, in Northern Province. Her mother who accompanied her at the graduation event carries her baby boy. Pastor Anastase, the director of PHARP gives her the certificate together with a gift of a sewing machineto help her start a business so that she can help herself and raise her child well.
She said that she is hopeful and confident that she will be able to provide for her child and for herself.She pledged to help somebody else in need from her machine as she has been helped.

Adeline is an orphan of father, and a sickly mother, while Helene is a victim of sexual violence and has gotten unwanted pregnancy.

Niyikiza Claudine, single mother and orphan of father; dropped out of primary schoolto help her widowed mother. She got unwanted pregnancy and lost hope of having a good life.The opportunity to learner sewing skill restored her hope.She said( I translate) ‘ receiving a gift of a sewing machine tells me that God knows me and loves me regardless of who I am and how I carried my life. May God bless those who bless others ‘
