Peace building and Economic Empowerment through vocational training (2020-2021)
Capacity building through training is one of PHARP’s main activities.
In spite of COVID 19 challenges ; with funding from Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), PHARP has been able to train 100 people from Kuvumu and Kigeyo sectors , in Rutsiro District, in Western Province in 2020-2021. Participants discussed approches and shared experiences in trauma healing and building sustainable peace.
Young men and women were identified and put into groups for a one year vocational training which included- Tailoring, weaving and basket making, shoe making; and carpentry.
The aim of the vocational training with PHARP has always been of empowering people economically so that they can cater for their physical needs and be able to build peace.Each group finished the training with the knowledge and capacity to produce valuable productsto sell and make income.
