Peace building and Economic Empowerment through vocational training
Capacity building through training is one of PHARP’s main activities. With funding from Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), PHARP has been able to train 100 people from Kuvumu and Kigeyo sectors in Rutsiro District, Western Province. Participants discussed approaches and shared experiences in trauma healing and building sustainable peace.
Young men and women were identified and put into groups for vocational training in tailoring, weaving and basket making, shoe making, and carpentry.
The aim of the vocational training with PHARP has always been to empower people economically so that they can meet their physical needs and contribute to building peace. Each group finished the training with the knowledge and capacity to produce valuable products to sell and earn income.
